Healing Arts Ministry

The sweetgum tree is common in North Carolina and produces distinct spiky gumballs – the fruit of the plant – which contain seeds that are a source of shikimic acid, one of the main ingredients in Tamiflu, an antiviral that shortens healing time. Within the sweetgum tree is a natural healing element available for our benefit, hidden in plain sight.

Sweetgum Workshop is a creative writing and healing arts ministry that encompasses poetry, art, and workshops created and facilitated by Nina Oteria that support the transformation of the spiky moments of life into opportunities for healing, learning, imagination, and growth.

All of my creative work is sustained, inspired by, and in gratitude and cooperation with the original Creator, who is the source of my gift.
